- The impeachment process is headed to the Senate giving the potential buyer some time to cash in on the property.
‘Tis the season to cash in… on impeachment. After the House of Representatives impeached President Trump, the impeachment.com domain name is up for sale.
But it will cost you dearly. The sellers of the domain name have set a reserve price of $250,000. As the internet property is being sold through a private bidding process, the domain could attract higher offers with the owner expected to presumably accept the most attractive amount. Bidding closes at midnight on Dec. 19 Eastern Standard Time.
The impeachment.com domain name was first put up for sale on Dec. 5.
Cashing in on Donald Trump’s woes
While the owners of the internet property are clearly hoping to capitalize on the impeachment of the 45th U.S. president, the domain name was registered during President Bill Clinton’s tenure – in September 1998 – to Telepathy, Inc.
Months before the domain name was registered, an investigation into Clinton had been initiated. This culminated in the release of a report in the same month the internet property was registered. The report accused the 42nd U.S. president of perjury. Clinton was impeached a month later.
Though the sale of the internet property is taking place at a time when President Donald Trump has already been impeached, the process is far from over and could drag on for longer.
