Vitalik Buterin Criticized Craig Wright’s “Patent Trolling”

Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin veiledly criticized the self-proclaimed Bitcoin creator Craig Wright for his portfolio of blockchain patents.

Wright is a senior fellow at nChain and claims that his company has filed more than 800 patent applications for the blockchain and has already received from 50 to 100 patents.

Calvin Ayre, the founder of CoinGeek, an online publication that supports Wright, commented on Buterin’s tweet:

Former CEO of nChain and current president of the Bitcoin Association, Jimmy Nguyen, said that Wright is obsessed with patents for all bitcoin and the entire blockchain, as he seeks world domination. He also noted that for patents, nChain is the largest and highest-quality portfolio in the world, behind which is hard work and high costs.

In February, Wright said that nChain plans to acquire 6,000 cryptocurrency and blockchain patents to “dominate the cryptocurrency industry.” Many representatives of the crypto industry believe that Wright’s actions are “patent trolling” and are aimed not at protecting nChain’s blockchain developments, but at reselling patent rights to other companies.
