- New leak marks Nov. 20, 2020 as PlayStation 5 launch date.
- Sony allegedly pricing the next-generation console at $500.
- Rumors remains exactly that so take this with a pinch of salt.
Sony’s upcoming next-generation PlayStation 5 will release a year from today on Nov. 20, 2020, according to a fresh leak.
PS5 May Launch On Nov. 20, 2020
The rumor comes courtesy of Twitter user PSErebus, who, despite the relatively unimpressive follower count and lack of sources, correctly leaked the initial February 2020 release date for The Last of Us Part II.
The leak suggests Sony plans to launch the PlayStation 5 in several undisclosed countries during the holiday period next year (as we already know) and will be available to North American consumers specifically on Nov. 20, 2020, for $500.
Alongside the release date, the leak also alleges that Gran Turismo 7 will ship as a PlayStation 5 launch title on the very same day.
As always, a hefty dose of skepticism and the use of salt-covered gloves are a prerequisite rather than suggestion when considering this type of unsubstantiated claim.
PSErebus may very well have plucked the date out of thin air in the hope that they get lucky. Going by the logic that led to the Nov. 20 date, this may very well be the case, but we can’t discount an insider channel to Sony employees in the know or some other source close to the project.
More News From Sony On The Horizon
With rumors and patents leaking seemingly weekly, we shouldn’t have to wait too long for Sony to unveil the PlayStation 5 in an official capacity.
As speculated previously, February seems a good bet according to a leak that surfaced back in September, while E3 2020 can’t be discounted either for a deep dive into the titles set to feature in the PlayStation 5 launch lineup. Whether Gran Turismo 7 features, remains to be seen.
