Blockchain Games Likely to Become Mainstream in 2020 – 비즈니스코리아

Various blockchain games were unveiled at G-Star 2019 held at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center from Nov. 14 to 17.

G-Star 2019 took place at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center from Nov. 14 to 17. There, blockchain game companies unveiled various blockchain games and held networking events for a better combination between blockchain technology and the existing game industry.

“Blockchain technology will realize potentials to create games comparable to the League of Legends and the Battlegrounds,” blockchain accelerator Hashed said at the game show, adding, “The Dota All Stars created in the mode of Warcraft III that allows users to develop games led to the League of Legends and the Battlegrounds is the first that adopted certain game mode systems, which means games created by users resulted in the sensations.”

The Korea Blockchain Contents Association held the Blockchain and Games seminar at the venue on Nov. 14. Game companies in the seminar predicted that blockchain games will become the mainstream next year in that entry barriers such as mandatory cryptocurrency wallets and technical problems such as slow information processing are being addressed through technological development.

At the same time, those companies expressed concerns about the Game Rating and Administration Committee’s refused classification rating on the Infinity Star blockchain game. “In Japan, a non-fungible token item applied to a blockchain game is not regarded as a cryptocurrency,” said Double Jump, a Japanese blockchain game business. The participants said that such rules should be prepared without delay in South Korea as well.
